All,

I have been on this site for about 6 months and love it. There are alot of good people with alot of bowling knowledge, etc. I come here everyday to see whats new. The site is all good except when something like this happens..

I agreed to purchase a 3 ball Track roller from another user last Friday, sent off the postal money order for $75 and he replied last Monday saying he received payment and would ship the bag last Tuesday. I responded saying thanks and could he please send my the Fed Ex tracking number after he ships it.

Tuesday came and went and nothing from him at all. Common courtesy warrants at least a short email or message telling me he got busy and couldn't ship, whatever, just something letting me know whats going on.

Finally on Wednesday night he reponds to my email of 2 days ago and states the bag is going to cost $20 to ship and he neesd to buy a $10 box, so unless he finds a cheaper way to do all this, he is just gonna send me my money back. NOTE: Now I had told him $15 was plenty for shipping a 3 ball roller via Fed Ex ground. I know because I have shippeed 2 others in the past month in the cont US for less than $15 each.

At this pint I told him to just send my uncashed postal money order back and forget about the whole deal. At this point, I wasn't feeling very good about this whole thing. He also gave me a bogus phone number.

That user has still not replied to my emails or messages about this matter and I know he has been online answering other users and posting new things for sale.

This whole thing is very frustrating. Being able to buy and trade on this board was one of the things I really enjoyed, but this instance has changed my mind on all of that. Why can't people just do the right thing and do what they say they are gonna do and follow theu with deals and answer emails in a timely manner.

I have ask him to respond today again, just like I did yesterday and if he doesn't repond today, I will post his user name so everyone can see how he does business. I will also file mail fraud charges on him as I sent a postal money order payable to him and have not received the promised goods in return.

Anyone have any ideas?? I just want my $75 back at this point. We really need to come up with some sort of rating/feedback system like Ebay has.

I think it's just part of the territory, Jim.  Sometimes you take a chance and deal with someone who doesn't have an established reputation, and sometimes you don't.  I wouldn't think twice about dealing with people I've known from this site for over a year, but you never know what you'll get if you deal with someone new.

From your description, it sounds like this whole transaction is only 8 days old, so give it a little more time, and see if he returns your money order.  IMHO, the $10 for a box is his problem; he should have included that in the price.  But the shipping cost should have been agreed upon before you both agreed to the deal.

If he agreed that $15 was sufficient to cover shipping, then later discovered that it wasn't, that's also his problem.  Once you make a deal, you have to live with it, even if you don't come out as far ahead as you'd anticipated.

Thanks for the reply..But by the number of posts this user has, he is NOT new..

I know its only been 8 days, but ignoring someones emails and messages is uncalled for. All I want to know is whats going on..

I am hoping I don't have to post all of his info on this board, but I will if I have to..

If he fails to return you posts then let the person know that you will expose them out in the open.  It is better to be up front then to lose all future possible deals.

He responded a few minutes ago saying he would get the bag mailed out next Thursday or Friday. That means he is taking almost 2 weeks to get the bag mailed from the time payment was received. Plus another 4 to 5 days in transit which means I won't see the bag for another 2 weeks from today. That is not acceptable.

He stated he works 10 hour days, well so do I, but if I agree to sell something, it is always mailed out within 24 hours of receiving the payment. That is just common courtesy. If it is delayed, I always send an email explaining the delay.

If it was gonna take 12 days just to get the bag shipped, he should have told me upfront and I would have never agreed to deal in the first place..

At this point, I don't even want the bag anymore, I just want my money back. Thats what I told him to do. Lets see what happens now..

I strictly use Ebay as a means of buying and selling equipment.  I prefer the protection that Ebay provides as both a buyer and seller.  

There are many good people on this board doing business but there are also many kids and adults who have no sense of responsibility or understand that sending your hard earned cash or a ball with little or no communication can make one nervous.

That is a rought situation.  If he is telling you he will not ship till next Thursday or Friday.  He is just giving you the run around now.  Especially since he told you before the deal was off and he was just sending your money back.  

If he does not ship till late next week I think you owe it to the rest of use to let us know who the user is so that nobody else has the problems you have had.

Just my opinion.

Jim,

I just paid $15 for shipping a 4 ball roller purchased from an Ebay seller.
It got to me in 3 days, Virginia to New Jersey, but this guy has an exemplary record.

If push comes to shove, I believe but am not 100% positive that the Post Office will let you cancel a Money Order but I am not certain under exactly what circumstances.

I agree with another poster that the box is his business or the final cost of "shipping and handling" MUST be posted or agreed upon as part of the final cost, BEFORE any money changes hands.

Although you probably already have a "sour taste" in your mouth over this apparent hassle, both of you did agree upon the purchase price and you both must agree upon the cancellation of the deal.

Just wanted to update everyone on this aweful situation. Its now Friday May 15th I have NOT heard from this person since last Saturday May 10th. He has had my money for 12 days and I have no bag, no nothing. I also know he has been online several times this week posting on this board.

Since I sent a postal money order as payment, if this person has cashed that money order, I will be filing mail fraud charges against him on June 2nd. My brother works for the US Postal Service and investigates postal mail fraud and he has been given all of the info on this situation.

After ignoring emails and messages for 6 days, its obvious to me this person does not want to settle this the proper way so I would highly recommend NOT buying anything from trackfreak and/or Bill Schmitt.

I did a little bit of delving.

It looks like not only is he not communicating with people, but he's sending stuff parcel post.

That could take 2-5 weeks for delivery.

Personally knowing that he's sending stuff Parcel post is enough for me to never deal with him. There's no excuse for that when shipping via UPS is $18.00 max.
