Not Suprised. House too big. Most of the lanes were burnt as toast. I know they popped down some new ones 4-5 years ago but can easily understand the closing, 80 lanes tough to fill and  very expensive to maintain. They'll just use Terrace Gardens and Gates which have been used on and off for 15+ years.

They had alot of good bowlers come out of olympic and it was always fun to see the pros. its sad to see it go down towards the end alot of trouble in that place i would say its downfall is amf and the trouble that would go on in there during the weekends never experienced it first hand but heard stories

AMF is running bowling into the ground here in Rochester.

Clover Lanes and Bowl-a-Roll are doing fine. As is Empire, I think. AMF Fairview just tossed out all of their Thrusday-Sunday leagues to go all open bowling.

Olympic has been a dump for 20 years. The only thing keeping it open has been the revenue from the Lilac. And I wouldn't be surprised if the Lilac folded also. I bowled a squad 2 weeks ago that had MAYBE 15 doubles pairs. Entries are way down again, and they have slashed the prize money this year.

It's the end of an era for tournament bowling.

This is why I wont bowl in any place that has AMF on the front door.  They are terrible for bolwing....

I agree.  We need to add that the AMF management of centers, and the whole regional management systems is terrible.

not sure the center is going to be brought out and pinbusters proshop is located inside olympic. but this is a center with 80 lane beds and at one point when i was a kid i rember that place use to hop all the time. maybe marcel needs to come back and revive it. maybe somebody will try to save it but its going to take alot of work even if they kept 40 lanes that would be more than enough a liltte tlc it could once again be a great place to bowl.
