On a fresh THS or sport type pattern if you're familiar, what are the preferences? What helps blend over/under, wet/dry hell. Personal preferences or general knowledge is welcome please.

Fresh house I tend to use urethane or old resin from early or mid-90's.

Sport is trickier since I'm a lefty, so I tend to go on on axis if I have to compete on it.

Hope this helps!!

Having more surface helps blend out wet/dry hell.  More surface will help you in the wet and when it's in the dry will bleed energy without overreacting.  Stay away from shiny balls in wet/dry hell.

Couldn't agree more lefty wall I always start with a fresh 1000/2000  (especially on our side of the lane)  and the patterns open up and blend out so nicely for me.

Typically I can start with the Code Black but last night the lanes were horrendous. The Code just magnified errors. Got me thinking, maybe I'm approaching these a little wrong haha. The bowling alley itself was terrible last night, league sheets sticking to the table, stepped on the approach and thought my shoe got stuck.

It depends on where you are approaching the wet/dry, either left to right or front to back.

But as others have stated, surface is your friend on wet/dry.  I personally like weaker solids with surface and try to play straighter if possible, especially on sport.  If I have to swing into the dry, then something a little stronger, but still with surface until my launch angles cause flat tens.

It all depends on the length of the pattern. Right now I have a pitch blue, IQ 30, No rules pearl,  an old cobalt vibe and Alpha Crux.   On shorter patterns I might start out with Pitch Blue, vibe, or IQ.  On longer patterns I would probably look first to the crux or NRP.  On house shots I might start outside the oil with the Blue, but would be ready to jump in and go to the stronger stuff pretty quick.

Any ball will work on house, as long as it's not shiny.

I usually start with whatever I feel like throwing on that particular night. Rotating my equipment is something that's fun and keeps league a bit more interesting.

After that it depends on what I see in practice. The shot can vary greatly from week to week at both houses I bowl at. Which is fine, keeps me from settling into any one particular area.

In general if the house shot is consistent and you want to play around the same area week-to-week I would go with surface to start with. Probably not an oil monster, but that depends on the individual too. Then stepping down to something with polish that's clean and stores energy for the backend when needed. Really simple strategy, but effective.

For sport patterns it's a case-by-case basis.
