Once again, how often should the shot change?
« on: November 16, 2004, 01:07:51 AM »
Our lane guy has decided this year that the shot will change every 5 or 6 weeks.  We're on our third major variation right now.  I'm extremely happy with this, though I've certainly shot some bad sets.  On the other hand I've also shot some pretty good ones after I've figured out what was going on out there.  BUT, and here's my gripe, I seem to be in a minority of almost one.  Everyone I've talked to at the bowl, including employees, don't like what is going on.  All have expressed pretty much the same thing - put out a "playable" (gimme?) shot and keep it the same all year.  BORING!!  Also, not good if you want to improve your game.  Thankfully Rich is a great driller, and a good mechanic so there's no chance of them forcing him to change (I don't think), but I'd like at least the few higher average guys to appreciate what an opportunity they're getting.  Plus, I doubt of many of the 160 and below folks have really noticed that the shot is different.

I've just got back into bowling once again.. Never took it that seriously before... Now i've got my first performance ball and will be getting into the leagues come spring.. since it's to late for that now... I agree that change is a good thing.. thats what will make us all better bowlers... I've discoverd the other night what everyone here is talking about.. I'm a lefty.. TO SOME..that my problem right off the bat.. as i hear so often in golf...anyway.. Since the new ball I roll down between first and second arrows.. Usually don't change to drastic between the 3 houses I bowl at.. my average is a 183.. BUT..the other night I've noticed that my ball on those simillar lines started crossing over to the darkside I like to call it...  at first I thought it was just the way I threw it.. stayed there for a few more times and had the same results.. and I was releasing the ball same way each time...  Kept thinking it was me.. ended up with a 139.. was thinking WTF...anyhow.. I CHANGED..  I moved to my right 9 inches or more...rolling it over or just inside 2nd arrow and started finding the HOLE.. finished up with  175 and a 185 my last two game... for me this was great.. because I learnd to CHANGE... only way in anything you will learn ..
