I wish I'd have missed that "league challenge" debacle again.  I'm not sure what their angle is, but both times have been some embarrassing, painful minutes to sit through.  There's a big difference between something being cool to do at a pro-am and something entertaining to watch on tv. 

I'm not sure . . for saying the bowling alley was built because of that one league, and then saying these are some important people/teams/league champions . . I could pick the 5 worst bowlers in my town and they would make pretty short work of the ones I've seen on tv so far . .

Agreed. Who are these people anyway? Not one of them "looks" like a decent bowler style wise. None have good form and every one just kinda chucks the ball out on the lane instead of a smooth delivery.

Surely a city as large as Portland Maine has better bowlers than what we have seen so far.

I thought the whole show stunk. Last week We saw PDW, PBIII, and WRW. This week We see SOME Bowlers who never have won the on the PBA Tour. Who wants to watch that?Plus ESPN has got to go for the PBA. Does anyone know if the PBA is paying ESPN to show the Telecasts?

there was a time when PDW, PB3, and WRW were those bowlers who had never won on the PBA tour. Look at where they are now.

Everyone starts out somewhere, and while not saying that the best years of people like those three are behind them, time is catching up with them. It wasn't long ago that people like Rash, Belmo, Russell, and Fagan were the new kids, and now they are making up the list of 'seasoned pros' that PDW, PB3, and WRW were on.

Now, we make way for the Blanchards and Tacketts of the tour so they can make their name and become the seasoned pros.

I'd watch that, especially to know that they are going to be the future of the sport, as well as seeing next chapters of the old story that has been going for 30+ years.

I mean, if you're upset about that, what would you do if PDW loses a battle to lung cancer, WRW and PB3 have heart attacks, Duke has a stroke, and Couch and Voss have aneurysms? All of these guys are in the Seniors/PBA50 right now, and while we would all love for them to be immortal, unfortunately that isn't how time works.

As much as we all love to relive their glory and keep it going, we do also need to invest in the future.

The reality is that ANY live broadcast has the potential to run over the time that was blocked out.  And it is not just an ESPN thing.  It happened with the NBA yesterday where the early game (HOU v OKC) did not end until roughly five minutes into the first quarter of the CLE v CHI game.

That being said, I have had a number of ESPN broadcasts where they flip it over to one of the alternate ESPN channels (I have several on the dial including four designated as alternates that will often air regional coverage of college events when there is a full slate).  Fox has also flipped stuff to a different Fox channel until it was time to return to the originally scheduled channel. 

This stuff has gone on for years, in ALL sports and has NOTHING to do with bowling or any perceived lack of respect for the sport.  It is just the reality of network obligations.
