International Release Balls ???
« on: October 01, 2008, 09:51:40 PM »
You see comments from time to time about 'International Release Balls'.  In general, what is different about them?  Are they legal to use in the US?  Are they more expensive?  Can you go to your local proshop and order one?

Almost all of them are. Look at the list of USBC approved balls. It's really on a case by case basis.

Not that I am aware of.

No. They are only available through overseas distributors. Ocassionally, a couple are available in the US, mostly through Ebay. SOmetimes, an internet seller, like BowlingBall.com, will have a few for sale, but that's rare.

The overseas market demands more releases and allows more variatioins.  Roto-Grip's Mustang Guy explained it best when he said that overseas doesn't care if it is a slight variation they want it to be released.
