Opinions on Oil Pattern Wanted

Want some opinions on these two oil patterns. They look very low scoring to me.

The first one looks similar to a 35 foot Kegel pattern that I bowled on recently.  I would probably look for something out around 4 or 5 board experimenting with varying degrees of aggresiveness on the surface. 

Second pattern has some similarities to Chameleon but with more reverse oil.  I could see using multiple angles that fit your game best to attack this one.  Key is probably not to try to cover a lot of boards.

They both have the same amount of oil applied 26ml, but the first one is 6' shorter. Avabob is correct about playing about 4 or 5 board to start, and that's where you want to target when the ball exits the oil pattern and not breakpoint! Kegel recommends -31 off the pattern length, which would be 4 for the short pattern and 10 board for the medium length pattern.

Both are pretty heavy volume...and both posts above seem pretty much how I would attack them to start practice.  Always remember the surface will dictate what part of the lane you play though....so don't put yourself in a box.

According to Mo Pinel's break point theory pattern 1 would play at the 6th board and pattern 2 the 11th board.

Take the Forward oil length at it's longest board area and subtract 3 from that board.

Pattern 1 has a 9 to 9 at it's longest point so that would be board 6 for the BP

Pattern 2 has a 14 to 14 at it's longest point so that would be board 11 for the BP

Some coaches today advocate a break point while the ball is in the oil.

I could see where the oil pattern is set up to play.  I was wondering what people though the scoring level would be.   I think it is pretty flat and the scoring would be on the low side.

It's tough to say w/o knowing surface, but I would guess they are low to medium scoring pace patterns.  Depending on the skill of the people around you they can become much easier, as the higher volume will require more surface, which will allow for some holes to be dug in the pattern.

Scoring really depends on the caliber of players and their experience on flatter patterns.  You aren't going to get a bunch of guys averaging 230, but I could see someone going 215 plus on patterns like these.
