Logo's/scratches
« on: September 16, 2003, 04:00:08 AM »
Many balls are sanded/polished in order to
remove scratches on the track.
However many balls present a large logo deeply
engraved in the "normal" track area.
Isn't the importance of the scratches overestimated?

Generally I wouldn't reccommend resurfacing for just a few scratches in the track.

After many games of usage a balls surface is eventually brought down to a 600-800 grit. That's the usually drive for resurfacing.

The effect of the logos in the track can be argued until the cows come how. But until a person's game is so good that their effect can be see (read:never) I wouldn't worry about it.

If the logo's were all the way around your track, then I'd be concerned. But, with only a few lines of the logo where the crosses it, there's nothing to worry about. =:^D

I hope we never get to that point either.

I know that occasionally I will hit the thumb hole when throwing urethane on drier conditions.  9 times out of 10, if I thump the thumb hole I will not carry the 10.  So there is a point at which a little hop becomes a big problem.  Probably not in the realm of something caused from a logo, though.
