Out you go ball! who else has done this?
« on: August 24, 2004, 12:49:23 AM »
Ok you have a old ball (or just one you dont want) you cant sell it, its too good to throw out etc. So you take it to the lanes and just leave it on the ball racks.

I seen in another post someone mentioned doing it. I've done it and just want to know how many people here also do it?

I ve seen some other similar things like One guy just parked his 4 ball carrier with balls and shoes and left it and never came back, but the better one was the guy who walked outside with his equipment passed a dumpster and just heaved all of it into it and drove off.

A local amateur around my area who is on a ball companies staff sometimes has ball shipped to where his tournament is and gets his balls drilled there.  After the tourney hell leave a ball or two with some of the under priveledged local kids.  Wish more people would have that mentality.

I give my stuff to YABA players who have promise and want to update their equipment.  I've seen parents complain about the cost of new balls and won't get their kid anything decent.  At least it goes to someone who can use it that way.

I left a VectorII on the rack once, but I took a white dot to replace it.  A few years later I left that white dot on the rack at a different house.

If your house has a good Jr. program (or even just a decent one), talk to the pro shop owner about donating it.  Then a kid who might not be able to afford his own stuff new might be able to get a decent ball for the cost of drilling.  Other than that, yeah, you could just leave it.  On the subject of taking from the rack, I'd check with the owner of the establishment - even if I were doing the "leave a ball take a ball" thing.  Just seems like the right thing to do.

I take a lot of old unwanted equipment in the shop, when it starts to pile up I put them in cases and donate them to various junior programs in the area.  Remember guys, one man's trash is another man's treasure...or was that just my "ex" they were talking about...

I donated a lot of my old equipment growing up to the youth leagues- but I did put a 3-D Hammer Offset on the ball racks when I got my V2 Particle a few years back...no one wanted that ball, no matter how much I tried to sell it or get rid of it.

I have "donated" quite a few to the Juniors over the years. Hopefully it is a way to keep their interest in the game. Of course there have been times when I wish I had just kept that ball...LMAO.
