So what's happening?
« on: October 16, 2017, 01:45:55 PM »
I heard about stories from a local PSO that balls on display, both drilled and undrilled balls were cracking. Storm and Motiv.

Those undrilled balls (NIB) that were cracking belonged to Motiv. Both at the shop and I heard also from the dist. warehouse. Both NIB cracked along the logo.

Storm were predrilled and were cracking on the shelf, Demo day balls I think.

I was looking at the Hustle Ink and Blue Vibe as my next ball...the 3 year warranty sounds good right now.

Does a round object have sides? I say yes, pizza has triangles..

Idk if it’s me, but I have a very bad problem with Roto Grip and their covers.

I've had one Motiv ball that had the separation issue around the logo. I've heard that it was an issue with some of their early stuff. Mine was a Venom Shock and they replaced it without question.

It happens across all brands. Think twice on what you consider "rare" gems that are undrilled in your closet….. Could find it cracked one day, undrilled.

I've had a Tropical Storm, Ride, and Ebonite Warrior crack. Tropical got left in the garage for too long by accident. Warrior cracked through plug job and i dont know why the Ride cracked

I wouldnt even worry about it

All the more reason not to keep reactives undrilled IMO.  Now some of those undrilled 2 piece urethane balls from the 1990s are probably significantly less likely to crack.  Then again I don't buy undrilled gems (not quite that stupid with my money) and even if I did they would be drilled with in a few weeks of buying as I have been incapable of resisting.  Can understand buying a spare of a ball you really love but don't think of it as an investment I would say.

I probably own more undrilled balls than 99% of the people who use this site(other than pro shop owners). I have yet to have a ball crack that wasn't drilled.

Some have been sitting for 7 to 8 years and not a single one has cracked.

I sell some off from time to time.

I sold 9 drilled ones in the last week or so. And a couple of undrilled ones.

to be honest those 2 color balls mentioned, storm and roto were mostly likely made at the 900 G plant which has issues from time to time. i heard about rides cracking like crazy!!!! tropicals are also produced there
In the bag [Infinite Physix, Volatility Torque, Night Road, Phaze III, Burner Solid, Hustle AU]

A friend had a misfit which sounded like the core was shifting, had some wiggle room. I think he later found out it was cracked in the inside and got it replaced by cook himself.
