Bowling Ball Question That I Never Understood
« on: December 09, 2008, 01:56:26 PM »
How are some people on this site getting all their bowling balls?  I hear some go to pro shops and pay nearly $300.  I hear others buy balls online for a lot less.  I see others buy balls used.  My question, that is still a lot of money!

Either you guys drill your own balls or are secret ballers living in mansions!

I want the truth like Jack Nicholson!

Heres a plan for you necro.
You have ten balls listed in your signature. Not a bad start.
One at a time over the course of the season place a post in the proper forum about how great that ball is.
Hype to the hilt. Use 3 or 4 alternate user names to talk it up until that ball is the second coming.
Post videos showing strike after strike after strike.
Finally announce sadly that it's time to part with your beloved gem and work out a two fer trade with one of the loyals.
Ten will get you twenty. Twenty will get you forty etc..
Soon you will be ballin with the big dogs.
This is tongue in cheek of course but it is possible to build up quite an arsonal through careful buys and trades.

LOL! My gems are priceless in that it only took me like 10 years to find both.  I think I am the only one alive today to have both hehe.

True, but that would require them to take responsibility for themselves, that's something most don't do, today ! ( ie..loans for homes they can't afford !)

True, but then you've never seen my wife when she's PI&&ED ! Try and take something from her and you'll probably only have a stub where an arm used to be. She's a tough one, but I do lover her.

I used to be a Domino's delivery man, myself! It was lucrative at the time, and very entertaining! But we'll save that for another thread!

Dude! Contrary to your ideas, the original One was a major mover in our area!
Everybody had "one", pardon the pun, and put up major numbers with the ball!
We had honors scores every week with that ball, and sometimes I thought I was having deja vu looking at the ball returns. There might be eight balls on the returns, and six of the balls would be the "ONE"!!!!

Agreed.  Whoever says the One sucks doesn't know how to bowl.  Tommy Jones used it to win like 3 titles.  My ex-PBA doubles partner uses it all the time.  When I used it, it was the most consistent ball ever.  When it came out, I also saw everyone have One.  There is a reason why Ebonite re-released it.

And I don't even like Ebonite and I like The ONE! HAHA!

I think a lot of the ball whores (the bigger ones than me) usually will win $300-400 on a bowling night and take it straight to the pro shop and buy a couple new balls. I used to do the same thing when I used to win more money than I have been lately and had a job.

I usually break even or lose a little in tournaments in any given year.  I guess that method is out of the question for me.

I got the setup. Small town 10,000 or so people. NO other delivery competition from the major players in pizza.

Our store is CONSISTANTLY in the top 100 stores in the nation for weekly SALES.
There are at least 7500 Dominos Pizza in the world..

Average night here is around 340 orders on weekends. I worked a college town previously (PSU) and only occasionally hit 340 orders in a night... at Papa Johns, and they were open 5 more hours of the day....

Pizza is serious business here in Lewistown..
