Pants!
« on: March 26, 2009, 05:41:57 AM »
So...what pants do you guys wear while bowling?  I've been toying around with the idea of buying a pair JUST for bowling.  What should I get?  I see a lot of pros shooting with slacks on, I've seen some guys shooting with jeans and sweats.  What do you prefer and why?

Haggar Cool 18 I absolutely love them.  Nice and light and affords a lot of room.

Only pleated pants!  Flat front pants are just too tight - you're begging people to stare at your package.  My boys need room to breath!

the most important thing to consider when wearing slacks is that the waistband needs to be worn around the waist. that's what a waistband is for. the beltloops are for the belt....they aren't just there for decoration.

it is sad that people don't seem to care how they're dressed anymore. 5 guys bowling on the same team with all of them wearing the same shirts and similar slacks looks very classy indeed.

Greg,

People like to look 'cool' these days. You know, make a statement against the establishment. Anarchy.. all that good stuff.

I admit I'm guilty.

Anyone who wears the following EVERY WEEK to bowling should be banned from the sport, and made to apologize to the entire league:

1) A shirt with your name on the back.

2) Collared golf style shirt with khaki pants.

3) Any of those retarded looking PBA jerseys.

4) Bowling shirt with patches all over it.

Guess I'm not allowed to bowl anymore.

No patched up shirt. Couple patches will do (Ebonite + Vise). Most of my shirts have the name on the back because most of the tournaments I bowl in require it. Khakis are intensely comfortable. I can't afford a PBA Jersey, or I'd wear one of those too.

Just curious...

How do people like mock necks? I might need to wear one this weekend in a tournament. Oh yeah, do you tuck your mock shirt in or leave it hanging?

1. Nationals REQUIRES slacks or jeans in good condition--no rips, intentional or otherwise, and no holes. I saw three people get told that they had to change from the jeans they had on to " something in good condition" because they had the jeans on that were intentionally ripped.
They aslo require a collared shirt. You are allowed to wear a mock shirt, but if you do, you MUST wear slacks with it.
2. For league, I wear a comfortable, loose pair of slacks or jeans with a polo shirt. And in one of the leagues, out team still wears team shirts from our sponsor( an Irish pub).

Can anyone else confirm that a Mock shirt MUST be worn with slacks? Or is it JUST for Nationals?

our association had our masters invitational tournament this past weekend. included in the rules of the tournament is the dress code: "slacks must be worn !, no jeans, shorts, sweats, zubaz, etc.". shirts must be a "polo type" with a collar, a "retro style" bowling shirt, or a "mock type" shirt. no exceptions !!!  there was still one guy who showed up in jeans but was allowed to compete after his girlfriend went to a nearby kmart and bought a pair of khakis.
