My PAP is 6 1/2
Is that ok, or should I work on it to get lower?

Mine's like that, and I either clip the fingers and thumb or come real close.  Nothing wrong with tracking like that.  You may be limited in some drilling options to keep the thing from clipping the holes more than necessary.

You can add a weighthole so you lower the bowtie.
