PAP - How do you find it?

I'll join the bandwagon of posters who are inexperienced about the physics of bowling balls.

They way I was told, which worked was as follows.

First throw a low flaring ball, down the middle of the lane, to pick up as much oil as possible so its visible.

Set the ball in a ball holder or an ashtry with the fingers facing up, not down, with the oil ring paralell to the table.

Mark the very top of the ball with a piece of tape. Throw the ball, if the tape stays stable, in the same spot for the first 15-20 feet of the lane, thats your PAP, if not, adjust the tape and try again. Then measure out to the right (for a righty) out to how far out the tape is, and measure from grip center, up to how far up it is. Sorry if this is complicated, but this is how I was told, and how I did it.

Another simple way is mark the track with a grease pencil all the way around the ball.  You then line a quarter scale up on the pencil marks, draw another line across the top of the ball.  Keep moving the scale around the ball and make new lines till you have 4-5-6 lines.  Where all the lines cross is your PAP.

Thanks guys... I'll be sure to do this next time I'm out on the lanes.
