I have this nagging question. I have a pretty low track right now PAP 4-5/8 over and 0 up. I used to be closer to 5-1/8 to 5-3/8 over. I used to have a problem thumping my thumb hole if I released the ball wrong so I started working on lowering my track a little. Now I no longer have that problem. But with all my stuff drilled for my low track, if I need to come up through the ball to get into a roll earlier and raise my track, this would effectively move my PAP to the right 3/4 of an inch.
So my question is. If you have to drill a ball and could raise and lower your track at will, which PAP position would you use to base your drill pattern off of? To me, if I raise my track I am trying to get it to roll earlier because of the presence of oil. But if I raise my track then my drill on the ball will also shift, correct? To me this kind of defeats the purpose of the drill.
Example. My Silver Streak Particle is drilled 4x3. If I raise my track to get it to roll earlier when the carry down starts, in theory, my drill pattern will become closer to a 5x4 which would make the ball want go longer and hook sharper. So wouldn't it be better to drill off of your farthest PAP measurement and drill it stronger from there? The lower track is going to get more length naturally from the release so it wouldn't be effected as much by the shift, to me.
Now it will depend on if it is a pearl, solid, reactive or particle, but the theory is the same. What do you think.
Thanks,
Kalannar
