Title: Par Bowling- awesome bowling textbook...
Post by: MSC2471 on June 22, 2004, 01:06:59 PM
I have been fortunate enough to borrow this book through my local library and I am about 1/2 way done and really impressed with the depth and knowledge that Tom Kouros displays in the book. The illustrations really help when he describes some of the techniques and I feel its necessary reading for all levels of bowlers.

Using the principles of line bowling last night in league I was able to throw 703 (241-205-257) and felt very good about my ability to watch my ball go over my mark 95% of the time as compared to 80-85% of the time during league play.

What areas of your game have helped when reading bowling textbooks like Par Bowling or Bowling Execution to name but a few?

MSC, I think the book is awsome. Much better than the books written today by Jowdy and many others. You can buy it on line for around 18-20 dollars plus shipping. I'm going to have to order another one as my son "borrowed" mine and never returned it.

Over the years, I have had both versions. I prefer the older one. It has lessons, that you practice over several games. I miss that in the new one.

Willie B Tapped: What were some of the practice tips that Tom put out there for people to try? I had the new book and I would love to know what some of the strategies he would have to accomplish in practice sessions.

I also found Tom's book to be very helpful.
Especially the section on lining up, setting
the center of your body to the left of final
target which sets your right shoulder on line.
His book is like a college level text. I have
had to read it over and over tryng to understand
just what he is saying. Does anyone really understand
 mid-roll ?
