what's the difference between balls sold overseas and those here in the U.S.? Are the majority of the balls actually here under different names? or is there a big difference?
Reading some of the overseas ball specs it appears as though they're like a R&D "test-bed" before actually using them here. Or is it our rules and regs are more strict?

I want to know too. I can't come up with a good conclusion to that question.

Don't know about the other manufacturers, but the overseas Brunswick balls use different cover/core combinations than the U.S. balls.
Most, if not all, of the overseas releases are on the ABC list of approved bowling balls.

maybe im going out on a limb, but is it possible that the companies are trying to make more money by using all different core/cover combinations and marketing 30 or 40 different balls as opposed to 10 or 20?...tim mack bowled alot overseas before joining the pba last year, and he was said to have only had 5 or 6 balls with him at all times...which means they probably dont switch equipment as often as they do here...so trying new combos overseas before the bring them here is probably not necessary because any combo seems to have a use in the US. i think they do it just to have more balls on the market, so that people may try and buy "overseas" balls because they seem different from what they already have. if i were in charge of a ball company, i would have a different market for balls on each continent
...if lane #1 can brainwash enough people here to get people to pay ridiculous amounts of $$$ for equipment, anythings possible.

Has anyone used (i.e. practiced) with an overseas ball on U.S. lanes? If so, which one did you use?
