Steelsmith and Waliczek, they've been here all afternoon
« on: August 12, 2003, 01:05:01 AM »
Yes, Rick Steelsmith and Lonnie Waliczek have been here practicing all day long.  Rick Benoit has been out here coaching them.  I've seen them throw everything from Inferno's, different Monsters, Lonnie even has a Predator Pursuit and a V2 Pearl he's been throwing around.  They've been here for about 4 or 5 hours now.  The thing that stands out to me the most is how smooth and effortless their armswing is.  Everything from their footwork to their release is smoooooooth.  Speeds, rotation, they can change nearly anything in 1-2 shots.  It's incredible.

Forget Kung Fu, I know Ron Bahr!!!

The only difference between youth and adult leagues are that the big boys are allowed to whine.  They're more entertaining anyway.

Rick Steelsmith does have one of the best pure games.
It's too bad the shoulder injuries have held him back from superstardom.
You're lucky to be able to watch them practice like that.

Lonnie had a great year and I look for that to continue.  He's a great competitor with a winning work ethic and a heck of a nice guy to go with it.  As with many of the top bowlers in the world, it's not their A game that is impressive, it's their B, C, and D games that makes them so good.  On as easy house shot, there are many bowlers who could compete, but on tough conditions, those cats know how to score.
