Title: Particle Pearl?
Post by: dicnic on January 04, 2016, 10:10:10 AM
I need recommendations for a Particle Pearl ball. Good for a situation where the oil is really carried down in later games etc.

Your thoughts?

I don't care for particle or other aggressive shells on carrydown.  Mainly because you get some early burn which forces you in to more head belly and exacerbates the carry down effect.  Best balls for carrydown are strong cored pearls or polished hybrids that can be played a little straighter though the heads, and have some energy left for the back end.

While particle pearls can help with the carrydown area, avabob is also right in that you still need them to clear the heads/midlane where you were playing with your pearl or solid. On the other hand, if you polish the particle pearl too much or it is polished already, it may not handle as much carrydown as there is.

A 4000 grit dull ball (solid or pearl) is usually close enough in length to a polished ball to enable you to play a similar line to the polished ball, and it will handle more carrydown than the polished ball.

Alternatives are to use a duller milder ball to get it to begin hooking before you hit the carrydown or to use a ball to enable you to go around the carrydown area.
