I finally figured it out. I'd bet, under the ten pin position is a 35# electron magnet. On the bottom of given pins is a small metal cap, when this pin is drawn to the 10 pin position, it would not fall for nothing.
Given the posted problems with the ten pin, I'll bet that's the case....magnets...so..all one has to do is figure out a ball that will disrupt the magnetic field and...pow ! no more 10 pin problems !!
OK, I'm bored and thought I'd give a bunch of you a laugh....if I have a bunch of requests, I'll delete this topic.
