Favorite TV 300 game
« on: November 28, 2011, 02:48:29 PM »
Hey,
What's your favorite televised 300 game?
I was watching ESPN Classic and they showed Johnny Guenther's from 1969 and Jim Stefaninch's from 1974.
Both great and fun to watch, Jim win's a new Cougar! (along with $10,000)
For me my favorite has always been Bob Benoit's 300 game in the title match with I believe a Columbia U-Dot in 1988.
Everyone ball was Pured, I thought it was very impressive to do it in the title match against Roth and win his 1st career title!
Here's Part 2 of Benoit's 300 game.

My 2nd favorite would be Bob Learn Jr.'s from 1996.

…… you can't  add a physics term to a bowling term and expect it to mean something.

Bob Learn Jr. 1996 Flagship Open in Erie, PA.-Nothing else comes even close for me, I remeber watching this on tv, to this day I have never seen anything like it on PBA telecasts. He shoots 300 in the first game, for a $100K bonus, then proceded to go 270, 280 for 850, then goes 279 in the title match for 1129 for 4, all in front of about 20,000 people in an arena setting with his family and friends there....absoluetly amazing to watch live as it unfolded and I dont think I will ever see anything close to that day again....

i have to agree with title town here

for me bob benoits 300 was the best one ive ever seen for couple reasons

1. fist 300 in championship match

2. this being his first career title

3. beating the awesome mark roth to do it

4. every ball being pure. i mean seemed liked he hit same board everytime.

all those things considered i think its the best 300 of all time in pba history but hey thats just my opinion

and im biased as bob is a long time friend of mine . he ran our local pro shop in topeka kansas for many years

and was very helpful in the game of bowling. and hes ONE HALARIOUS DUDe LOL

That's the one that resonates with me. It showed how many of us react and he pulled it off in great fashion. He shook and bent but he never broke.
