Title: PBA Badger pattern
Post by: NHLfan88 on November 22, 2013, 04:09:52 PM
I have a tournament coming up on Badger next week.

Any tips on equipment, surface, where to play, etc.  Any tips would help!

I know it is a 52 foot pattern, so i gotta imagine that you gotta be pretty straight with anything.

Use surface but don't over do it. Probably 1000 at the most. Otherwise ball will hook early and have nothing left the last 8 feet. Also throw pin up balls to get it to finish a little better.

I like real strong cored Pearl balls ( Lucid is good example ).  The key is to get the ball in a roll with minimal out angle.  Old time guys like me who used to play fall back inside really like this shot.  In answer to the question that I am sure is coming, fall back is setting the ball down near 20 board with a break point barely right of 15 board.  Carry can be very good, unless you get too much axis rotation.

Ball will not roll early on a 52 foot pattern.

When we played bear we broke down the pattern around 12 slow with surface eventually we worked a small hook spot in it. Even with that you needed surface to get it to finish.

I used a Seismic Venator shot 936 at 1000 abralon and probably could have used more surface especially early in the block.
