PBA Bear..on wood
« on: January 22, 2018, 02:28:34 PM »
Never actually bowled on Bear, that I can recall at least. Tournament is Bear pattern on wood lanes. Any thoughts on how to approach it? Obviously the lanes the day of will dictate it, but I like to try and at least have a general starting point.

Or even a remember when of a time you bowled Bear and how it went?
Current Rotation:
PhysiX
Code X
Code Black

Might be tough for a few games, until transition.  Meaning it might play true. Once it breaks down the House Shot track will be the spot to play.  I have been bowling on wood for almost 20 years...biggest problem is you can't get exact sport shots. You can only get them to play similar.

Friction will be more prevalent.  Be prepared!  I'd bring a up the boards solid, and a GET deep  solid and the rest pearls. Assym to low end.
In the bag [Infinite Physix, Volatility Torque, Night Road, Phaze III, Burner Solid, Hustle AU]
*Now Testing* IQ Ruby, Renevant, another IQ Tour solid
Coming soon...???

Bear had historically been the most challenging of the animal patterns.  I think on wood you will get the benefit of the track area becoming playable sooner.  Best advice, find s ball surface that matches your speed and rev rate in practice, the try to play straighter keeping the ball on a fairly direct line until the pattern opens up
