HELP! Follow Through
« on: August 05, 2003, 03:47:54 PM »
I really need a few opinions here, as I am totally at a loss. I have just changed my bowling style, in order to increase my knee bend, and improve my timing. The only problem is, my follow through has gone up the creek! It has become inconsistant, and the more I think about it, the worse it gets! As a rough guide, where should it finish, as the local coaches here have told me different things. Any opinions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated

I have always been told different things too, such as your hand should come up by your ear or your thumb should touch your nose etc.... I pretty much just let the arm swing freely and follow through up by the side of my head. I never realized how important a good follow through is, I am much more consistent now because of it.

How am I supposed to knock all 10 down with one ball?!?

I like the Dick Ritger follow thru.

When I do it right I bowl good!

Fingers over the left ear, I don't try to force it just flow it!

Or for you wrong siders(righties) fingers over the right ear.

well, thankfully, it seems as if my problem has solved itself. I was off balance with my trailing leg at the foul line, so looks as though I had mis-diagnosed my own problem. It is the weirdest thing though, as trying to follow through in exactly the same way as I show the kids I coach proved harder than I thought. That will help me appreciate the technique more when I am teaching it, so all in all a good learning experience. Thanks for the suggestions and answers people.
