PBA League Tonight
« on: June 03, 2008, 03:31:26 PM »
Rough Night Tonight lol. We bowled on the Scorpion, and there was a good amount of friction on it at my local house. I started off standing on about 18 and throwing straight up 10, and then the second game I moved way out, before returning to playing about 10. We did switch lanes after each game which explains the drastic line changes.

I missed about 13 spares in a 3 game set lol. Something I need to work on. But all in all, its definately an experience lol.

We just started up the PBA Experience League tonight, looked pretty rough for some as well.  On a side note, in your profile under high game leage, it says 27...surely thats not correct

At least you have the balls to step up and bowl on those types of conditions. Kudos to you. So many house hacks refuse to bowl on real conditions. Stick to it and work on your game. You'll see a true improvement.

My biggest problem is spare shooting. I missed a ton of them, and its something I really need to work on.

But I love the challenge of stepping up to bowl on these types of conditions. I had a blast, even more so because it was my first Men's league, finally jumped out of Juniors.

And yes, that should say 278, not 27 lol, ill have to go fix that

We had our 2nd week of PBA trios..We bowled on the Shark and the team we were bowling had no clue of how to break down the lanes so we all could get a decent groove.

Someone tell these asshats you can't play the Shark with shiney Widow Pearls down 5...

My sport league has decided to start on the Scorpion.  I sure stunk up the place Monday.

On a positive, while practicing after league, I found that 1-2 board with my Black Widow worked well.  I'll have to try it during warm-ups next week.

We are bowling on the Scorpion again next week also. I should be better prepared for it this time though.

Our league bowls on each pattern for two consecutive weeks.  This makes it easier for pre/post bowling to be done, makes it easier to find time outside of league to practice on the patterns, helps you make fewer adjustments to ball surface if you aren't changing oil patterns every single week, etc.

Our league is running the Shark for six weeks and then the Scorpion for six. Shot 202,237,124 for first week. Hopefully I learned how to transition for 3rd game or I may be in trouble.

Yeah, we did 3 weeks each last year actually, but scheduling this year meant we'd have to cut one pattern short a week.  We opted instead to bowl two weeks on each regular pattern, plus two weeks each on the PBA World Championship pattern and the TOC pattern, if our lane man can get those patterns for us at least.

Shark kicked my butt last night!  My equipment really moved hard off the end of the pattern.  Much more then last week and way more then I expected!

I didn't bring my weaker equipment, due to last weeks experience, so I was totally unprepared for the extra friction.

Just another reason to bring everything you have to your PBA league each week!

The lanes play where they play.  All the stuff you read are suggestions at best.  Outside of 5 seems to play pretty well on all the patterns around here.  Last year (different house), I struggled on Shark playing them like you're "supposed to".  Watched some young guy with a huge back swing and a bunch of revs (nice modern style, not a spray and prayer) tear it up throwing a shiny One up the gutter.  I didn't have the hand to do it, but if it works, why not use it?  Most of these leagues are only 3 games of singles or doubles, not 4-5 man teams, so no one is trying to break down the pattern for the long haul.  I understand getting upset at a PBA regional, but at a local PBA experience league?

lol...I wasnt upset, we could have all broke the lanes down and shot some good numbers. We get 15 minutes of pratice, so 6 people wearing in a line is better then a fresh sport pattern on each shot.

The thing is, there line was not working at all..Shooting 130's and keep playing the same line let you learn nothing about improving, no?
