During the Christmas break I was talking to a couple of touring Pro’s who said the funny thing about the PBA patterns was how the heads would dry up and the mid lane would remain slick. The trick was finding a way to get the ball thru the heads but still get a mid-lane reaction .

From the commentary on the show it appears that they have changed to a new oil (at least this week) that is much slicker and the heads held up better and at least Randy Peterson thinks the shot is holding up better . The bowlers were not being required to make huge moves during a match.

But despite the oil seeming to hold up better the scores during the tournament were not particularly high. I’m sure they will keep tweaking the volumes for the different patterns but it will be interesting to see where it goes during the remainder to the tour swing.

With the changing of the oil will new faces start showing up because of how the lanes will play? Time will tell.

Could that new oil possibly be Prodigy??? That's what the center where I bowl has gone to and the shot is exactly what was described----lower scores from the higher average bowlers in our Thursday League. Outside of 10 was O/B and the shot held all night------I average 204 and managed a 687 by playing a 24-14-10 line with my X Factor with average speed. Left a few 10s that if ahd carried wouldv'e really raised the score.

there was NO out of bounds yesterday! Are you kidding?!?! Walizcek was missing his mark by 3-4-5-6 boards and still recovering ! That looked like a house shot yesterday....yes ??

Did anyone else notice that ?

I even posted something yesterday during match play on the PBA Board....

Jeffrevs -  I agree that Lonnie made them look easy and there definitely didn’t look like there was any O.B. (at least on the right couldn’t tell with Scroggin’s). But Lonnie’s style may have just matched up extremely well. But they didn’t look real tough.

But the lanes for the TV show might have been quite a bit different in that scores were not particularly high during qualifying and match play.

WRW did say that the lanes in the stadium were much dryer than at the center.  He did not specify, where they were dryer.  Maybe it was down lane. That is why there was no apparent OB.  Just a thought.

The shot at Pacific was not terribly forgiving.
I watched the second 9 games of qualifying, then the round of 32.
I watched several players missing the headpin by getting the ball 1 board wide - and the leaves weren't pretty.
Same player, next shot - through the nose. Ugly, ugly splits.
At one point, I could see 2 or 3 4-6-7-9-10's and a couple of 4-6s in about 8 lanes. Awful looking.

I sat directly behind Tim Mack during the round of 32. He appeared to be overpowering the shot a lot, and sliding through his breakpoint. Washout city.
Now - I might be pretty good in my own circle, but I'm not fit to hold Tim Mack's bowling towel, so I might be speaking out of turn. But that's what it looked like to me.

If they did switch to Brunswick, it may be COntrol. I know we switched to Control LV (wick machine) and it is slicker than Prodigy and seems more stable. Could not have guessed it from travel league this weekend, but in regular league it seems much better. I am anxious to run the PBA "C" with this oil and see how it plays.
