We're looking to improve our centres scoring a little...we've only ever had 3 300's in the 30+ years the centre has been open!

We have a Magnum Silver Bullet still dressing the wooden lanes with guardian on the heads and the house shot barely holds up for 2 games at doubles pace.

I personally don't know much about the tech side of things and neither do the techs themselves unfortunately so to start with could anyone send some sample house shot patterns and I'll pass them over to the chief tech and we'll go from there.

You have some issues that wont easily be resolved with a great oil pattern.  First guardian finish is notoriously bad for carrydown off the heads.  Second, if I remember right the silver bullet is a pad machine.  If I am correct, it will not handle the higher viscosity oils that hold up better to todays balls.

There are way too many variables that go into a lane pattern holding up than just the shape itself.  You will get a much better answer to this question on bowl tech than you will here.  First off you will probably want to find out what type of oil and stripper they are using now.

Thanks for getting back to me, I appreciate there are way too many variables but we need to start somewhere. I've had previously tried to become a member of bowl tech but they have rejected my registration because I'm not a member of the industry.

Bowling on old wood lanes with a Guardian overlay, That's like the worst thing to be bowling on.

It's certainly very trying! and would explain why averaging anything above 200 is always a bonus but the frequency to which this happens is far too low.

Thanks for the kegal links but we're on a 6 tank pad machine so the pattern library isn't much use to us unless you can convert the data to mimick what we need

Have you had the lane machine gone through by a competent lane machine technician? If you make changes in how the machine applies cleaner and condiioner, you want to make certain that the machine is fresh and properly serviced.
