Trouble Matching to Equipment
« on: June 30, 2009, 04:19:05 PM »
i need help figuring out what to do. I have two balls, Hammer Venom with the pin down below the bridge and a Hammer Doom pin up above ring finger. Od the three games bowled in league, the Venom becomes to strong even when moving in real deep around the 4th frame and the Doom is too weak until the last 6 frames of the third game. Is there an in between ball i should look at with length and a good backend to fit between these balls? I think my revs and speed have increased over the last year so that might be a problem with my current equipment. Thanks for the help.

No, you just need to learn that when you go to the Doom from the Venom that you need to move X number of boards outside with your target and foot position.  Its called knowing your arsenal.  Go practice with both balls so that you are very familiar with how far you have to move off striking with the Venom to striking with the Doom.  Then WRITE it down.  So that when you switch in league you are not guessing.

You don't need another ball, you need to learn how to move.

And I suggest you read the FAQ and read up some more on bowling because your posting a Ton about equipment and its not the equipment that is the problem at your current scenario.

Also, until you add a profile with some information that leads us to believe your competent to the point that you can start blaming equipment you can't really expect a lot of help.

I'm sorry if this comes off as harsh but someone needed to say it.

What's wrong with being 10 boards over with the Doom???? There is no rule saying you have to throw the same line with either ball.

If you are back towards the track already with the Doom and the ball never moves then sand it down to 1k or 2k with no polish.

I watched Wayne Webb in local masters tournament use the same exact ball play up the 1 board and then next frame swing from 6 th arrow. Btw he struck both balls so it left still wondering which line was better, awesome bowler kind of makes you sit and go dang wish I could do that.

I agree with everyone who's posted already.

You could also try using a weaker hand and/or finger position with the Venom so you can stick with it longer before switching to the Doom. Or you could put some surface on the Doom to make it stronger, but then you would have to get used to that.

i agree with everybody as well and with the venom instead of moving left u might have to up, therefore shortening the lane, or right maybe throwing adjusting speed a little bit
