PBA Telecast predictions
« on: November 08, 2003, 11:16:05 AM »
Once again, I'm just going by the numbers, and so far they've kept me pretty close.  Jaros over Healey.  Jaros had some pretty big scores against him in the round of 8, not to mention winning the match.  Wiseman over Johnson.  Neither of these guys bowled SUPER great in the round of 8, but Wiseman has the experience, and I don't believe Johnson's ever bowled on tv, it's his first year, right?  Monacelli and Jaros could be a close one, they've both got some numbers in their favor, but I'm going to have to go with Jaros.  Jaros's game is so simple and so easy to make subtle changes with that once there have been a couple games on the lanes and the oil has started to change from the tv lights, I think Jaros will be less affected by the changes than Monacelli.  Again, that one's a tough one, but Jaros is my pick.  Wiseman vs Jaros in the final match, and I think that Wiseman's ability to play very deep is going to be a strength for him as the lanes break down, his angle will give him more length and help take small dry spots out of play.  I can see Jaros hitting the pocket a lot and pretty easily, and if he carries well, it'll be close, but I'm picking Wiseman.  Honestly, I think it could go either way, but I've gotta pick somebody . .

Hamster, CJ may be a rookie out there on tour, but he has been deemed by a number of people who know bowling to be perhaps the best to come out of Dallas- and the metroplex has put a ton of talent out there over the years.  His pre-tour routine included lots of action against some pretty good tour players on the various patterns.  At one point in time, the comment about CJ was he could come into a house with one V2 and one pair of shoes and beat you on any pattern.  I liked Chris Barnes comment about him yesterday, though, when he said CJ wasn't happy unless he was knocking dust off the caps...

My choices...

Healey over Jaros in the wildcard match

If CJ can avoid the split monster, I'll take him over Wiseman

Monacelli over Healey in a high scoring match...they both seemed to do well after the transition

Monacelli-CJ...no guess except to say it will come down to one forcing the other to double in the 10th to win it.

I'll just go directly to the winner .. I didn't give this guy a chance throughout the competition and he proved me wrong  .. now, I believe he can take it ALL:

Steve Jaros

I don't care how much talent you've got, your first time under the bright lights has got to be a little unnerving.  Smart money is on Wiseman in the 1st semi.

Healey over Jaros in the wildcard.  Jaros' game is very simple, but he always seems to find a way to lose on the show, and that thing he does with his hand after he releases the ball bugs the bejabbers outta me.  Plus, the last time he was on TV, he was whining and crying like a little girl 'cause he couldn't carry the 10 pin.  I was embarrassed for him.

I'd love to see Monacelli and Wiseman in the final, but my head tells me it will be Wiseman and Healey.  Wiseman wins in a squeeker!

CJ's a great player and I believe he'll handle himself fine out there today but he's against a group of guys who all have titles and are used to the SHOW.

I'm rooting for CJ, but it will be unlikely for him to step up and shine the first time out.
I've seen CJ do some things that were pretty amazing so I'll not rule anything out with him.

Jaros over Healey
Wiseman over CJ
Amleto over Jaros
Amleto over Wiseman in a roll-off (why not)

Okay, CJ impressed the hell out of me with that game against Wiseman.  Just looked to me that CJ wanted it more; Danny didn't seem to have brought his mental game along today.

CJ and Amletto in the final?  Woohoo!

Im still sticking with Amleto even though he lost....so I guess I'll go with Jaros, but still in a roll-off...

Posted it before the telecast and CJ's 2-4-10 helped him win.  Until the last few frames he had the best read and hand position on the telecast.

Jaros was carrying EVERYTHING!! Trip 4's, breaking up splits..

The bottom line is CJ lost the match, Jaros didn't win it..

Would that have to do with something that Steve can do with his wrist position and roll?  He played the lanes straighter than anyone and came from the wildcard..bowled another game.  Give him his due.

Let's not forget about CJ's cross over strike also.
