Gizmo,
The short answer is No.
The longer answer is very involved, but I will touch on a few things. First and most importantly is money. There isn't the money available like there was here. At this time, people could still make a living on the PBA tour. That really isn't possible anymore. Also, there is no money to hold arena finals anymore. It's cost money to rent the arena, build the lanes, etc.. The telecasts are bare bones now, because the PBA is footing most of the bill, I believe. And even if I am wrong on that account, ESPN isn't willing to put the money into like ABC was. Second is the ball technology. A lot of the lower scores is because the balls of today just eat up the oil, making a tough shot tougher. And when you hold stops at places like Thunderbowl in Michigan, where the track already has a huge amount of friction, it can make for some pretty ugly games. I could go on and on....but I don't see bowling ever getting back to this. JMHO
