PBA Tour/Ball Companies
« on: April 27, 2008, 01:09:44 PM »
We were discussing this topic in Gary Parson's Pro Shop last week! (World Class Pro Shops/ Red's Bowling World)

The discussion got pretty heated at one point, based on a lot of different people's perception of POY, and who won the most money on tour this year.

The question was: Which Ball Company made the most money on tour this year?
Based on the most top ten finishes oveall.

I think the answer will surprise you!!

Interesting, but the most top 10's doesn't equal most money won.

True enough!!

Which is why I intend to research this further, so I have some real fodder to take back to the shop.....and continue this discussion!

Barnes/Malott should be a no brainer but did not win the most money

Brunswick had the following wins this past season:

Mika K. - Japan Cup = $50K
Rash - Masters = $100K
PBIII - Spartenburg and Roll to Riches = $175K

That's $325,000.  That's more then Malott and Barnes made, who are the only two Columbia 300 staffers on tour.

Even without the Roll to Riches, Brunswick accumulated more money than Columbia.

Hmmmm.......I think you've got a very good point!

Interesting. Now I have to go back and stir up the pot....to demand some sort of justification for their Columbia claim!

I find it hard to believe Columbia could have the most top 10's also.  Columbia only has two staffers.

Maybe the most per staffer average, but no way can they compete with Brunswick and Storm who have 5+ staffers and free agents.

Now that Brunswick Balls are made in Mexico...it now takes three to five Brunswick bowlers to equal two Columbia300 bowlers.
