PBA/PWBA Local Pros Bowling in your League/Tournaments?
« on: March 21, 2006, 08:16:05 AM »
I know this is a re-post, but it has been awhile since I've heard
from everyone about this. Being in Northern California, the only
Exempt PBA Pro represented from our area is San Bruno's own Tony Reyes.

I am posting this, because I'm excited to say that our team is bowling
against former Team USA & Multi PWBA/LPBT titlest Kim Terrell's team.
Kim is originally from the S.F. Area.

Both Tony and Kim went to San Jose State University and represented their
collegiate team.

She is a class-act and is always friendly. Kind of nervous to be
bowling against her tonight, but it should be fun and we get to pick
her brain some more!

Anyone else with former PBA or PWBA players from your area bowling in your
leagues or local tourneys? If so, who are they? This would be neat to
know!

Thanks,
Rammy Haggar

Here in Louisville, KY Mike Wolfe will come bowl league and area tournaments sometimes on off weeks, or if he doesn't make shows.  He and Chris Barnes have been known to frequent the area alot and I heard they were going to bowl in a local tournament 3-4 weeks ago, but Chris had to tape the skills challenge after the telecast.  They've been known to come and practice sometimes at Executive Strike & Spare here in Louisville.

I bowled 3 years with Dave Wodka and 1 year against Wendy MacPherson who has coached me also. I have been team mates of Paul Renteria 2 time High Roller champ and another year i bowled with Rick Benard another high roller champ.

Next Year i will bowling the south coast scratch league i am sure there will more of the ex pro's and mega buck winners. In Vegas it is not hard to find good players in almost every center you bowl at, they live here for the mega bucks and the cost of living and weather is good still too.

Well around our area Roy buckley bowls in the traveling league, sometimes we'll see Max Bob, Ketzer, Himmler, Lizzi, or Loschetter show up to tourny's every now and them. Loschetter and Lizzi both bowl leagues up home when i get a chance to leave from school, as long as Chis isn't still out on tour.

I do not bowl on a league with them but at tournaments in the Kalamazoo area I often get to see former PBA/current senior PBAer Charlie Tapp and his wife Marliss ( former pwba). I can not at this moment remember Marliss's maiden name. They are both nice people and I have gotten to pick Marliss's brain a couple times.

Barry Asher (PBA Hall of Famer), Mark Baker, and former US Open winner Tennelle Milligan (nee Grijalva) have bowled in my summer league the past two years. It's been fun!

Have Marshall Holman on my Thursday night league.

The local tournament club I bowl has had Bryon Smith and Blaise Bedolla as long time bowlers and tournament winners. Currently, we have Chris Warren bowling in them.

Tomek Jr is from my area. Also when Kulick is up to visit him, she bowls frequently. Had a 4 week span last year when I bowled those 2 and 2 others who are regular regional tour bowlers and took 2 out of 3 from each of them. That was a fun 4 week stretch. Easy to get up for that.

No one here in Pullman is or was a national member; the resident ball driller/pro had a regional card but gave it up.

There's a guy 15 miles from here who was a national member.  He probably holds the record for the most tournaments withdrawn from in the area.  Quite a piece of work, tough on the lanes, but fun to compete with when he shoes up.

Several guys in Spokane (75 miles away) have or had cards, including a couple who won, but I really don't bowl against them often enough to say much about them.  Matt Surina who used to live there won twice on tour and holds an Eagle (singles) from the ABC tournament.  Great guy, used to drill for me.
