Older balls, Where did they go?
« on: May 21, 2010, 09:54:32 AM »
Ever notice that all the balls you want (well at least for me) are not sold at online retailers anymore. Mainly the older ones, just for example the Paradigm, Gravity Shift. Just bought a Dimension and even that ball is being retired. Anyone else name some balls they wanted but can't find anywhere?

I WILL admit I have about 30 NIB balls hidden away, and you CANNOT have them! I do have some new ones, but I find I score better with more control, and consistency with the older stuff. the don

They get put on discontinued, closeout lists from the distributor, who sells some like this to shops that will buy them. The rest just sit there until they're either forgotten about, or they're given away as promotional items to friends, family, and business prospects.

A few just keep floating in limbo, showing up years later on e-bay where they've been found in an old warehouse or an old shop that's been closed for years.

For example, last year I bought a NIB 14lb A.M.F. XS from raiderh20boy, who said hes had it sitting on a shelf in his shop for a LOOOOOONG time. That ball is 15yrs old now.

Contemporary balls, lets say the last 5 to 8 years, have been cycled through the manufacterers so fast that there are not that many made before the next generation rolls through.  Therefore, IMO, balls of this day and age, disappear faster then they used to when places like Ebay and such first became popular.

I've got two great 15 NIB Dynothane balls 3 months ago from a local shop who found them in the back while cleaning. 357 Magnum and Ne10 for $60 each. Drilled one, and sold the other.

Many others sit around in warehouses or shops or where ever and somebody finds them and usually they go to ebay.

An Ebonite The One original in 15lbs NIB would be nice.. ] Wouldn't mind an encore The One either.
