Title: pearl coverstock vs hybrid coverstock
Post by: ray on November 09, 2015, 07:48:45 AM
after weeks of deciding on a new ball to get, i made my desicion to get warrior from ebonite. however the very day i was going to order i saw warrior elite is about to be released. after studying the the balls, everything is the exact same with the exception of the coverstocks.warrior has a pearl coverstock, warrior elite has hybrid. can someone please help me out and explain the difference to me. is one "typically preferred or considered better then the other.any info or suggestions on the coverstocks or which ball i should get would be very greatly appreciated. thanks

The final decision is dependent on the bowler and the conditions.  But I wouldn't look at whether the coverstock is a pearl or hybrid as it used to be.  In the past, solids would be early and arcing, pearls would be skid/snap and hybrids would be somewhere in between.

But now, companies are using whatever combination it takes to produce the desired results.  I have seen skid/snap solids and early pearls.  Look at what the manufacturer is trying to accomplish with the ball and make your decision on that, not what the cover is.

I would go with the original.  Many times the first iteration is the best, and that particular ball has many glowing reviews.  It's a good one.
