Another oil ball topic.. .but please look
« on: March 06, 2004, 02:55:55 PM »
Its for my girlfriend... and if i dont get a good answer she will have my balls for breakfast...

She uses 13 pound gear, and for the life of me i cant get her to go to 14 pound balls. So basically what im looking for is a heavy oil ball but one that uses the high performance core, not like storm where they use craptacular cores in the lighter stuff...

help would be much appreciated...

good luck and high scoring

right now she is using a V2 particle, and getting about 7 boards hook ... playing on 10. She bowls about 22km/h, average revs. She needs something that is going to really bite and hit hardon the juice.

thanks for the quick reply

good luck and high scoring

Try an Ultimate Inferno, or a Raging Inferno sanded to 800 grit (which would be a couple boards stronger).  Both are strong, and since Brunswick uses the same core from 12-16 pounds, there is no worries there.  But keep in mind, if you get the raging, have it sanded, since it comes with a high gloss polish.

Matt -

I too throw 13# equipment.  I have tried to go to 14# and it's just too much for me.

I have never tried Brunswick so I cannot offer any advice.  I would like to try them one day.

I recently purchased a Hammer Blade Solid.  The ball in it's NIB condition was hooking out of the park.  I had to polish it up to get it under control.  I bowl on medium to medium/heavy with carrydown.  I have no problem getting to the pocket with this ball even in it's polished state.  This is one of the hardest hitting 13# balls I've ever had.

Hammer utilizes the same dynamic cores down to 13#.  I called their tech guy and he confirmed this.  He told me they make the change at 12#. So, you might also want to consider one of the balls in the Hammer line.  She probably would need something a little stronger than I have.

By the way, according to the Ebonite specs the V2 particle is not the same at 13# -

14# - r.g. 2.441  diff. .061

13# - r.g. 2.508  diff. .030

Good luck!
