« on: August 29, 2008, 04:11:25 AM »
I was bowling in 2 leagues this winter, Tuesday and Thursday. Just the other day I got asked to sub in a league in evansville, at the end of the night they asked me to be a full time member, I accepted. it seems now I am wondering if I can handle 3 days a week? Tuesday, Wednsday, and Thursday.

Anyone elsae bowl 3 times a week. BTW I am 22 if that matters

I'm bowling 4 leagues this year (2 mens and 2 seniors) which is the same as last .  However, I only bowl the first half of the season before I head to Florida,  I split the year with another guy who bowls the second half.  At 62, it makes it a good deal easier.  Shoot, if I could find another senior league on Wednesday I might add that.  Now all I need to do is find some leagues down in the Venice area for Jan, Feb and Mar.

ya now that i am seeing what you guys pay weekly, I am more than happy with $33.

I can't believe it is that much in other places. The ones that are paying 20 or higher, where are you from

With me .. only one league is over $20/wk. It's a new league I started with this winter! I'm trying it .. if the PAYOFF is FRONT LOADED .. it will be my last year .. RALEIGH NC!

Jacksonville, FL area...I bowl only in leagues that are highly competitive and have decent payouts. But yeah, makes me yearn for the days of $6.50 youth leagues...

I bowled 5 nights a week for a few years. That was too many. I bowled 3 plus sub jobs 3 years ago and that was perfect for me. My body doesnt like 3 nights in a row however. Typically my hip starts to hurt. For some its their knee, back, or hand/wrist. For me its my hip.

The last 2 seasons I bowled 2 nights a week plus occasional subbing. It wasnt enough to keep me sharp. There can be a balance for some people---thats tough to find. Divorce allowed me to get back to my appropiate balance---2 full time regular, 1 full time sub (until my dad gets healthy), and another part time sub. Thats good enough for me.

I am 74 years old and I've been bowling only 7 years. I bowl in 4 leagues in 3 different centers monday to friday and I also practice in between which makes a total of 23 games in 5 days. I rest on saturday and sunday or else my wife will kill me.  My current average (at the end of last season) is 198 on THS and I'm still improving. I'm not particularly strong because I worked in an office all my life. I'm 5 foot 9 and I weigh 160 pounds. I throw a 15 lb ball at 16 mph.I give my coach the credit for that performance because when I started bowling, I used to muscle the ball which gave me all kinds of problems: tendinitis, wrist and knee injuries etc...My coach trained me to use the pendulum and not force the ball and this works wonders. I could bowl even more games if I wanted to because I feel no problems at all. I'm writing this post not for bragging but only to help. Like I said, my coach deserves the credit not me.

You are young so getting tired wont be an issue. I would do it now if you have no reason it cant work, like cost or wife complaining. Enjoy and what yourself get better.

For me.... too much!

I am fed up with one training a week + all two weeks four league games + the official league which consumes a whole Sunday each month... that's enough for me...
I mean... I have a privat life

It's frightening how much it all costs per month. I know how much I spend with my two handicap leagues and it's like paying a car payment along with one I already have. I could get a luxury car on a low salary if I quit bowling. But I love it so much...

I love my two leagues and can't part with them for now but would love to bowl a PBA X league.
