An old friend and I were talking about our early bowling adventures and both remembered the "perfect storm" at a league meeting. The league president had brought up the subject of ABC raising yearly dues to $1.00+ or -. Neither one of us remembered exactly. Instantly the room was full of cusswords, threats to ABC, etc. The room had just quieted down when he raised the next subject. The subject was raising the prize fund by 5 cents per game per person, which would make a total of 30 cents per league night. The room erupted again. Threats of quitting the game, etc. After sanity was regained, the ally manager informed everybody of alley's responsibilities to serve the bowlers, happy hours, snack bar specials, beer specials, etc. He ended by informing all that fees for league bowlers would be raised from 30 cents per bowler per game to 35 cents per bowler per game. As cries for a lynching went up, president was calling for calm, I left.
