Isn't it amazing....
« on: March 31, 2004, 06:03:13 AM »
.....how every newbie posting here about "what ball should I get", always bowls on "really heavy oiled lanes", and medium high revs and ball speed?  Kind of interesting.  I can't even really define "heavy" oil, and saying you have medium high revs and ball speed is different for everyone.  High speed for a 12 year old is much different than for a 27 year old.

Just some food for thought.  Not instigating anything, of course.

You're also forgetting that if they're selling a ball, it has been used for less than 30 games.

To their defense, they are new to the game and don't throw an effective hook yet, so everything probably seems like heavy oil.  It never hurts to overestimate your specs either.  Gives you a head start on inflating your worth on your resume...

Heavy oil? Within any New England house, you see maybe 1 house out of 25 that has heavy oil on a consistent basis. I think the general credo here is minimal oil outside, flood inside, and very short oil patterns (rarely beyond 32 feet of oil).

I find many so called 200 bolwers can't read the lanes.

Most THS shots can be anything you want. I hit the heck out of a pearl resin and get in the dry early and complain all night they are dry. all the while poundering out loud how can so and so throw that charcol ball on this?

or I can layoff the ball and play 2 boards inside the oil line with ploshied particle and claim there oily.

lane reading is very subjective on the bowler skill/revs etc.

I wounder how many people actually know there oil pattern that they are on that post here.

I will tell you in Chicago area it's like pulling molars to get that kind of information from most propritiers unless some one works there and even half the time they don't know becuse someone programmed the lane machine and they just run it.

i also find it quite funny how everyone says "i bowl in a tough house with a reverse block and even high average (210) guys say its tough" yet, usually this is a junior talking and i dont see how a house can be tough if some 15 year old can shoot 210. people on here talk about how hard my house is, then how easy ths has become. weird
