Dead Eliminator
« on: September 26, 2003, 06:09:45 PM »
My Fuze Eliminator has died after only 30-35 games. Hooks very very little now. Hooks less than my Monster ScreamR. Anyone else have these problems with the eliminator? What should I do to try and bring this ball back to life. I plan to try some hook-it stuff I see at the pro shop any other suggestions would be appreciated.

A few things:

1) Is it possible the house you're bowling at is putting out less oil? If they are then it makes perfect sense that a particle ball such as the Eliminator is hooking "less" than the Smash/r.

2) If you've never been cleaning your ball I highly reccomend you start. Hook-it is good stuff.

3) Because it's possible you haven't been cleaning your ball, you may need to do a few things to get your hook back. FIrst, deep clean the ball with hook it to get all the dirt off of the cover. Then bring the ball to your pro shop for a little bit of time in the Rejuvenator. Finally, have it resurfaced back to box condition. It should be almost good as new.

Forget the Rejuvenator, try Hook Again instead.  No offense Bjaard, to be sure, it's just that Hook Again is far safer and more effective on the ball.  But yes, you should clean the ball every time out.

HAH!  I don't know ANYBODY now!

Being in adult leagues teaches you many things.

1.  You're not on top anymore, but there are a lot more people that suck worse than you do now.

2.  The myth about the youths having an easier shot is NOT TRUE.  I'd have an entire ring collection if it was.

3.  Drunk adults are a lot funnier than drunk youths.

Hamster....

Brunswick actually reccomends the rejuvenator OVER hook again.

Personally I'm going to go with what the manufacturer is reccomending.

Actually the article said in one place that Brunswick has no opinions regarding other methods at this time.  We haven't used Hook Again yet, admittedly, but due to the nature of physics, Hook Again seems safer to begin with because it operates on the ball at room temperature.  The heat of the Rejuvenator, whether it seemed to directly hurt the balls or not, does have an effect on them.  I'm definitely not arguing that it's not effective.  I have to admit to not knowing what temperature the Rejuvenator operates at.  I shouldn't think that anything over 90-100 degrees would be needed unless you're incredibly impatient.  My boss has a B.S. (you'd be surprised how well that term fits him . .) in Chemical Engineering, and says that whether or not both techniques work, the Hook Again in his mind is the safer way to ensure longevity in the durability of the ball.  The jury is still out on Hook Again, of course, but it would seem that if it works as advertised, it would be the safer way.  I'm not a fan of Ebonite at all, even less after having owned one of their balls recently, and I throw almost all Brunswick (I haven't thrown anything but Fuzes this year so far), so I'm inclined to listen to what Brunswick has to say as far as their equipment goes.

Throw it away and find yourself a BUZZSAW !!! You will save money in the
long run. I did.
I have over a year (2-3 leagues a week, plus tourneys and
practice) on a Blueberry and NO loss of power/hook.
The ole lady got a blue carbide that had god knows how many games on it
when she got it and has thrown 3 leagues plus practice on it.

My Carbide LRG died, but I made the mistake of actually cleaning it . .  Everytime I clean something, it always dies.  Doesn't matter what kind of cleaner I use, it always ends up making the ball too slimy.  Doesn't matter who cleans it or how they clean it.  Always dies.  But yes, I had three or four different Buzzsaws, they help up really well.  It's them Brunswick coverstocks . .
