Ok, So the local YABA....
« on: May 09, 2005, 06:04:47 PM »
has given the thumbs up to 2 kids here in town that have shot honor scores 300- and get this one, a 299, both during no tap play. The 300 was a yaba 9 pin no tap tournament, the 299 was an end of league party and they were bowling 9 pin no tap. I don't believe bowling no tap is acutally bowling, its just somthing to have fun, no pressure means i think things may of been different if it wasn't during no tap play. Also, Last time I checked (Been a while, haven't shot anything in a while- much less seen a yaba form) the award form asks for all 3 games, lanes, etc. How do you write a game in which you don't shoot a 9 count spare? there is some silly rule that says this is fine, and both are getting thier award rings or whatevers, but what do you think? i think its stupid, and just a step backwards in trying to get bowling to a respectable "sport".

wow

That's all I could think of when I was reading that.  I don't know how that could be passed off as an honor score.

I just got to thinking on this and I do beleive that they could be valid.  If you have witnesses to prove that you shot 12 natural strikes while in a no tap format, you could get the award.  Same goes for the 299 because in a no tap format it is impossible to shoot that score.  That person would have had to shoot front 11 and then a 9 count on last ball.  I know that in a tournament they can adopt a rule if you shoot all 12 natural strikes you can get the 300 award.  As far as the 299, the league was still a normal league using all rules, so he could get the award if he could prove that he shot 11 naturals and a 9 count.

just my 2 cents

It does not matter what type of shot you throw, it's the results on the scoresheet that counts.
