danny -- A lot depends on whether you mind having a weight hole.  With high top weight, your layouts are limited to cg near the grip center unless you're willing to have a weight hole.  With lower top weight, you can move the cg more and still be legal by drilling the thumb or fingers deeper.  If you want the pin over the fingers, want to keep the pin at least 1" away from the finger holes (to keep most warranties in place), and want to avoid a weight hole, you need a 3 1/2 - 4" pin out ball.  If you want the pin under the fingers and no weight hole, you need a 1 1/2 - 2" pin out ball.  The best way to assure you get the right ball is to discuss your desired layout with your driller before the ball is ordered.  He can then order a ball with the best combination of pin out and top weight for you.  --  JohnP
