Title: Pin Sizes
Post by: Brickguy221 on December 06, 2005, 01:23:09 PM
I was talking to a Pro Shop Operator about the Storm Paradigm. He asked what specs I use. I told him 15#, 30z. Top Weight, and a 2" - 2 1/2" Pin. He said that he had one on the shelf that had a 3" Pin. I told him that from my past experience, that longer Pins didn't work well for me. He said the balls must not have been drilled right. He said he can take the ball he has with the 3" Pin and make it do anything a 2" Pin ball will do for me.

OK, now this type thing is not my "cup of tea." I need help.

Is what he said, true or not?

If the pin is placed in the same place, it doesn't matter whether the pin is 5 inches or 1 inch as long as you can get the ball legal. Pin length does not matter, or if it does matter, it is very insignificant in comparison to where the pin is placed.

I don't know how well the paradigm would work for your game, I know you have had problems with assymetric balls in the past and personally, I wouldn't take the chance again. Just stick to what seems to work (symmetric euqipment) and leave it at that. No need to get fancy when other balls can do the job and won't be dud's if you happen to drill them wrong.

What he said is correct.
