Pitch how does it change ur game??

My balls are drilled up with 1/8 resevre pitch in my fingers and i think 1/8 or 3/8 reverse in my thumbhole... just wandering what are the disadvantages and advantages to this.. I'm planning on slowly moving my fingers out because i just was told today that hardly anyone uses reserve pitch in my fingers... I'd like to say i'm bowling better then ever right now shot 717 two weekend ago for my first 700 and followed it up with a 730 686 6 games stretch last weekend... So as the motto goes if it ain't broke don't fix it but i am always open to change things if that would make me better... also how much a move would u make to the fingers to start 1/16 , 1/8?  Thanks for the help...

Just to make sure I understand how YOU are defining pitch.  I understand REVERSE to mean that te bottom of the hole points AWAY from the grip center.  If this is what you mean, I really don't undersand the comment that hardly anyone uses reverse pitch in the fingers.  I believe that most fingers are drilled with reverse pitch.  Your description of moving the fingers out appears to mean that you currently have forward pitch, not reverse.

Grip center is the Northern Star. Pitching TO the grip center is FORWARD, AWAY from it, is REVERSE.

However, on the AMF drill machines that I used, it is a different story.
When you move the table away from your body, through the machine, it will bring the drill bit relatively closer to you, thus it will drill away/reverse pitch for thumb and to/forward pitch for the fingers. But this is defined as Reverse for both finger and the thumb holes in the graph/picture on the machine. I don't know why AMF put this on and I don't know if newer ones have the same pic/graph but this is true.

Could be the reason for misunderstanding..

I understand reserve picth in the thumb as the thumb hole pointing away from the grip ... and reserve pitch in the fingers as pointing towards the thumb... This makes sense because both wholes would be pitched in the same direction hence using the same name...  What cgilyeat is saying means reserve pitch in the thumb and reserve pitch in the fingers means two different things...
reserve pitch in thumb   <-0  8  ... reserve pitch in the fingers  0 <-8
that makes sense to me...

Pitch is only relevant when based around a central point.  I've always understood reverse pitch means it's pointed away from the grip center, and forward to be pitched towards the center.

Ok well whatever it is i was just wondering since mine are pitched towards the thumb is there anything wrong with it or could i bowl better with it pitched away from the thumb....  I was told if i moved it out the ball would rest more in my hand and i'd have a better feel... He said no one uses pitch angled towards the thumb anymore

This guy sounds full of shizzle to me. Its not about "what people are using now", its about what is comfortable for you. If the pitches you are using now are comfortable and they work, why change them? Just keep what you have if it works for you.
