Help with Dry
« on: March 29, 2009, 05:11:32 PM »
I'm sure this is a fairly redundant question, but it's my first time asking it! I'm wanting to know what would be a good drier lane ball. I usually bowl with the Hammer Anger, set at 4000 no polish with pin below bridge. I play straight down arrow 2 with nice continuous backend into the pocket. The lanes however dry up and to continue to have success, i really have to increase ball speed and go to less hand. Is there a suggested ball that i might look into that would allow me to play down and in on drier conditions that won't force me to labor my shots? I was told the Hammer Razyr is a good one?

If you want to stick with hammer, get the cherry vibe
My fav is Rotogrip Neptune.

Drill either with weaker drills.

Break your wrist to shoot on drier lanes.  I use a Neptune with a pretty strong drilling, but at 4000 Abralon with polish.  If it's that dry I break my wrist and it helps me stay in the pocket.  Very good tool I learned and it's helped me in late tournaments.

I have the same problem. The house I bowl in the heads get extremely dry with stripped back ends. We dont ever get carry down. The weakest ball I have is a Troad pearl. So im going to take a look at an ogre SS. I may just start throwing plastic 3rd game.

My dry oil ball is the Brunswick Smash Zone, that ball gets down the lane unbelievably easy even on burnt up heads.  Even on dry lanes I never have to go very far left with this ball, I can play almost straight up the boards.

Cut down on the revolutions, pick a weaker core (usually pancake) with a less aggressive cover, and use a weaker drilling. If you get something like that to hook, you have issues.

The Rayzr wouldn't be a bad choice.
