Places to bowl??
« on: August 12, 2009, 01:31:42 PM »
Hi guys,
As most know, I am with The Oakland Raiders and when we are on road trips some of us in the equipment dept try to find a bowl on Sat afternoons after walk thru.
This year we will be in KC, Houston,NY,Dallas (Thanksgiving )Pittsburgh,Denver and Cleveland. Anybody have any ideas of bowls close to the respective stadiums??
Thanks

I don't bowl in jersey but Lodi bowl is close to the Giants stadium. If you want to bowl at Brunswick zone Carolier, it's about a 35-40 minute drive right down the NJ turnpike. The have about 80 lanes and also the US open has been there in the past. It may be worth the trip.

Thanks Hogsharley, one down 5 to go! I'm sure the Dallas stop will be Forum Lanes in Grand Prairie since I actually led first block of the QuakerState Open A LOT OF YEARS AGO!!! Hope they still have the chandoliers for lighting!!

in pittsburgh,  nesbit's and princess lanes are can't miss both places have hosted many a regionals and ladies lpbt events over the years.  if your in cleveland meszars is an old school place that can't be missed and so is brown's bowling and grill.  brown's is world famous because they are believe to be the second oldest sanctioned lanes in the united states right behind the holler house in milwaukee.

When in Dallas check with the Cowboys.  Many of them bowled at our center at one time.  I would ask Marion Barber or Andre Gurode.  Both of them bowl.  They should know where the best place to bowl is.  Our family pro shop at one time worked with them.  Funniest thing I ever saw was one night a guy came rushing up to the counter going "hey that's Terry Glenn!"  Naw that's not Terry Glenn...   Doesn't even look like him.  It was Terry Glenn.  We told the guy not to hassle him.  The cowboys would come in to get away and relax and as long as everyone was cool with them things were great.  I don't think Keith Davis is with the club anymore but if he is find KD!  KD bowls and is great!

In the Cleveland area Freeway Lanes (in Parma) is a good spot.  LeBron (some people may have heard of him) has had a few charity events there and it is pretty decent.

Good Luck and I hope the Raiders can beat the Brownies!

What do you know.....  I just looked up to see were KD is.  He's in Oakland!   Ask him about Dallas!   He will know.  Weird things....   My dad drilled his bowling balls and my father in law serviced his pool.

AMF Wallington Lanes is a lil bit closer to the Meadowlands stadium than Lodi Bowl.  It is off RT 17 up Paterson Plank road. Make sure you bring light oil equipment with you though.

Carolier isn't all that exciting, it's your typical center not worth the longer drive south.  It may have 80 lanes but it also has super tacky approaches, if you do venture there make sure you have lots of butter for your feet.....or slide socks.

In KC I would say either AMF Northland or Sterling Lanes.  Sterling has recently been remodeled.

Frankie Abralon..yes we do play in San Diego but we fly down the day before the game usually around 4-4:30 and we go to the stadium to set up after going to the hotel. No time to have fun. On the other trips we usually fly on Friday afternoons and have a "dead day" on Sat.
