plans for the fall?
« on: July 07, 2008, 04:44:24 AM »
What are your plans for the fall season? Same old grind same old house or are you going somewhere new for a change? Also Same team members or not that can make a big difference as you all know!

I will be Bowling at a new house again this year about the 4th season in a row for new houses for me and will have a new teammate, Mark Blank will replace Jake Tennessen as our cup cake guy but a 190 average that mark holds is hardly cup cake in any league. Other than Mark all the same cast Jason Packingham leading off Mark second, Shay Derousso third I am clean up then Dusty D. anchor. Will be bowling at the T&O lanes in Oshkosh this season in Thursday night drinking/scratch league. My Pro Shop Owner bowls in the league also he is the one that got us a spot and also Bass bowled in the league last year but he can't make it this season

I'm hoping to keep it to only 2 leagues this fall and not offer to sub every night of the week this year!

On Friday night, we are the defending champions and all team members are returning.  Great league, old wood/guardian surface, extreme wet/dry can be easy to unscoreable depending on transition/carry down.

On Saturday night, we are also the defending champions, but we may have to pick up a new bowler.  Fun, mixed (any combo) league, older AMF synthetic lanes, can be high scoring from all angles.

I'll be bowling adult leagues starting in the fall for the first time. Due to being a college kid I'm only going to bowl one league full time but I will sub on a few other nights.

i am switching houses. going to a synthetic place that puts down an actual shot week to week. new teammates, A SPORT LEAGUE that i bowled in last year, high school in november, and hopefully buying the UPRSING

Im so glad people are brainwashed to thinking that if they buy a new ball they will carry everything. And its even funnier when im carrying with my 15 year old ball and they're going flat ten.

Two houses. Local house in a 5 man league with the team I've bowled with forever, and Thursdays I'm moving up from subbing in another house where I used to go to college to being a full time starter. I'll be the low average on the 5 man team coming in, finished there at 221 last season...

Should be a fun season.

At this time I am undecided.  I enjoy the Sport league, most of the time, but I am tired of being on a team that is guaranteed last place.  If I cannot get ateam that will at least be in the middle of the pack, I'll give it up.  $30/week for 36 weeks is just getting to be too expensive to know your team will be last or at best on up from the bottom.

I am also tired of my home center - A/C doesn't work most of the time and it is no fun bowling when it is 80+ degrees in the center along with the fact the owner likes to mess with the shot, especialy on the left side.  I am definitely not bowling more than 1 league there.

As for going to a new house, probably not this year so it may be no leagues or 2 max.

No clue yet.. Got booted from my tuesday night league for a former member with a lower average and they kept a lower average bowler aswell both who have years more experience than me. What makes this worse is they didnt tell me they informed my mom on her league night. Wed. night league is goin under due to no change in officers for 3 years. Thursday where I was a 6th man the team left the league for fear of losing to the vacancy(one of the toughest mens leagues in area). Friday the bowling center closed and they league kinda got moved but I'm not sure that anyones going to continue bowling on it. So who knows? Anyone in the Indy area need a 185 average thats still improving?

May do 2 houses this year depending on my budget. Will probably get 2 new bowlers on my mixed league since my girlfriend is going back to college in the fall and will most likely be a sub this year for us instead of a regular bowler. Plus, I hope to buy 2 of the newer balls by the end of the year, one from Track and another from Roto-Grip or Storm.

Well, I'm staying put.  I just moved last year from a synthetic house, 13 miles from home, to a wood house just 2 miles away.  The team is serious, yet not over the top as to not having fun unless winning attitude.  We pull for each other & don't let anyone get down on themselves.  We all are also good sports & congratulate the opponents on good shots &/or games/series.  Bunch of fun.

I am not sure, but I know that I will not be bowling at the same house nor with the same team.

With us moving to Japan, it would be hard to bowl with them at the same house. But I am not sure how many leagues I will be in this upcoming season. I will do at least one, but it depends on how many leagues there are and what they are about. I might do 2. I would love to find a youth-adult league for my son and I. Would be great if it was a 3 man, then I could include both kids and myself...

our wednesday night men's scratch team will be back to defend our title of last year. this is at an older house with wood lanes with the laneshield overlay. our saturday night mixed team is moving to another house which is reopening after being closed for several years. this house is wood but was built in 1979 and the lanes themselves are in excellent condition. right now i am practicing 3 times a week on everything......down and in shot, swinging the ball, spare shooting, releases, etc. i'll be getting new equipment drilled up in the next few weeks so i'll have time to try them out. looking forward to the upcoming season !
