Playing your house Shot

 Just curious do most of you generally start out with a solid ball first and then move on to a pearl or hybrid next ? Or do you just go with what's striking in shadow ball ? I tried what was striking in practice which was a pearl. Went 248 first game Curux Pearl. Second game it was 5 ten pins and strikes mixed in. Ball looked great hitting the pocket made small adjustments but just could not carry. Wondering if I took the wrong approach. Finished the night with 663 but I was frustrated.

99% of house shots have the friction and most traffic right of 10, so play where the pattern lets you.
Boy does this one ever have friction right of 10. After Dark Pearl or Tundra might have been what I should have bought after all.
Why'd they make bowling complicated anyway?  :P

Most of the time I am starting with my Hyroad X  - or my Winner - then switch accordingly if I have to. It depends if I can play straighter or if I have to get deep?

Play as far right with as much surface as I can. I avoid fast response balls as long as possible.

I am so trapped whenever I try to hook it on a house shot. If I keep it in front of me, I have a chance of scoring. No Rules Pearl, Torrent, Match Up Black, and IQ Tour are what I've been using. I really want an After Dark Pearl to camp right all night.

Might think about a Purple Hammer as well.  Good ball for camping out on the right and keeping your angles in front of you.

Do it brother. I’ve been raking with it in league. I’ve never had to adjust more than a board or two a night

Watch or have someone watch where the ball is existing the pindeck. If it continuing through to the 8, ball down a touch. If it’s deflecting and exiting through the 9, ball up a touch.

Or watch the 10 pin at least. Is it a ringing 10, or flat. Adjust off that.

Sounds like you’re controlling the pocket. It’s always hard to give that up looking for carry.

Dude, mine is 5*40 and it's HUGE. Cover makes it a bit squirty OOB, but I easily get 5 inches of flare and when it goes, it GOES.

That fair. The few I watched in person were out of box finish and seemed to wiggle a lot down lane or roll a bit smooth and even giving a lack luster finish. May just have been the conditions and bowlers I was watching.

Lane surface, and buff length are the biggest factors  in how I play a house shot.  Except for urethane most balls will not allow me to use the hold area when I play out.  One exception is the after dark solid.   However one place I play on 20 year old anvil lane is so tracked that I have to move in and go to stronger stuff really quick.  Carry is an isdue then, but that is the only way to stay in the pocket
