Myth Or Fact
« on: August 22, 2009, 01:32:59 AM »
Today I was told two things that I could not believe and would like you guys (who know more than I do generally) to tell me if these two things are true or false.

1. I was told of a type of ball that no matter how much you bowl with it it never leaves track lines (oil rings, etc.) and it was due to titanium particles in the ball that cause the ball to grab the lane without it picking up oil.

True or false?

2. I was told by the same guy of a man in canada back when they bowled with wood balls who in his lifetime bowled approximately 1200 300/Perfect games.

True or false?

Extra note: this isn't some kind of unusual test i am actually curious as to whether they are true

However, whether you like it or not, Allison has never rolled a certified 900. Do uncertified 900s count? If so, Mushtare still comes out ahead because he had five of them in about four months.

Whether we like it or not, Allison had witnesses to a series that didn't count, although I don't think anyone questions that he rolled 36 in a row during a single series. Don't forget that USBC investigated Mushtare's 900s and found them OK and that ABC said no-go to Allison.

Maybe Mushtare slipped across the Canadian border for 1200 perfect games, but it's unlikely that he had any witnesses there either.

Actually USBC gave the OK to three perfect 900 series that weren't witnessed, two by Mushtare and one by Campbell, who didn't even bowl the series in the house the league bowled in.

Allison's 900 should be certified. He did it with a Yellow Dot on lanes that would be considered legal today. If fact it has been said that those lanes would be flatter and harder than what we bowl on today.

Allie Brandt shot 887 with no 300 game in the 20's which stood as the highest series... on the shellac surface... and only used to holes... the  middle finger and thumb.

Both rumors are false.

It is true that there were a number of perfect games in unsanctioned competition, but don't forget that the original poster was wondering if one person could have shot 1200 of them. No doubt Mushtare could get that many if prebowl 300s still counted for honor scores.
