Title: Pocket 4-6-10
Post by: MichiganBowling on December 27, 2003, 10:39:26 AM
I was bowling a moonlight 9-pin no tap tournament tonight, and left a half/pocket 4-6-10 split.  I've NEVER seen anything like this in my life.  I thought you all should know about it.  hahaha.

that's just like leaving the big four except the seven pin is gone. I've seen that pin leave before. It's just that, like TravisG said it, you went high and hit the nose. Hopes this help!

Guys with large entry angles do this a lot.  My brother has left the big 4 before on hits that he, I, and others watching didn't think was that high.

Also seen a righty with a large entry angle leave a light-pocket 6-7.  The 6 spun and never fell.

With more aggressive resins, you see this kind of thing happening more and more.  I never started leaving solid 9's (righty) until I got a super-flex resin ball.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, the pins bounce funny for everybody.

A few years ago on the first night of a season i opened up with a 698 for 3 games. It was a 4 game league. I thought, perfect, start the season with a nice 900, what could be better. The next game i didnt miss pocket once. This was my scorecard for the game. 9/ 9/ 9/ 9/ 9/ 9/ 9/ X X 9-

In the 4th and 7th frames i left 6 pins from just short of flush, the kind of shot that throws the 5 pin over to the 7 pin. Also a few weeks later in the same league i left a 6 10 from the same sort of shot. I havnt been unlucky enough to leave a split from it. Needless to say i cut back on the revs for the rest of the season, didnt leave another one.
good luck and high scoring

Hey again,

Seriously, the shot was in the pocket.  It actually came in a little late, and yes, I was hooking the lane.  The left lane got real goofy, so I moved in to where my friend was playing and playing well.  I had a lot of room around 5th arrow to 6, so I just played right there.

It must have been a broken pin (or two) or just a horrible rack.  It was the type of hit you would expect to throw logs everywhere on.  Crazy.  I guess it happens sometimes.
