what kind of mood
« on: June 20, 2007, 01:00:55 AM »
do you like to be in when starting a tournament
or league. I enjoy music that pumps me up, but
it also seems I am so pumped that I rush to the
line with faster feet which leads to imbalance.
Anyway, do you prefer a laid-back, pumped
up or somewhere in between mood?

Phil

Usally I am so stiff when I show up, it takes 10-15 min of stretching and warm ups, so for me I really don't get pumped until about the third or fourth frame, than I walk around a lot, just to keep myself calm.

Cool and relaxed. Business as usual. The less tension the better, even though a positive mood helps a lot.

I like to be relaxed...I mean really relaxed.  I just bowled in a tournament for the first time listening to my ipod in the seating area. I don't listen to get pumped but rather I listen to be "removed" from the atmosphere.  When I pop those earbuds in its just me and the music nothing else.  No beating myself up over a bad game or missed spare.  It feels like when I get up its the first ball of the game.  In the tournament I used the ipod I struggled with carry at first...I go 180, 195, 258.  When I shot 258 I didn't even see that I was on pace to shoot it, I just got up there and bowled. Now granted, I didn't shoot a huge set but its the ability to grind out 180's and 190's instead of 160's that help you win tournaments. And I also struggle when I see that I am making quality shots and not scoring.  I get discouraged...with my music it doesn't happen.

I've tried everything and there's no magic elixir. It's your day or not.
